You can watch purchased 4K UHD quality movies using the YouTube app on eligible Smart TVs and Android TVs, or with a Chromecast Ultra (with 4K displays capable of HDCP 2.2). Whenever available, you can watch HD quality movies using the latest version of YouTube on: If a title is not available in HD, your video will play in SD instead. Some titles may also have a 1080p option. If a video is available in HD, you can select Settings in the Menu bar at the bottom of the web player (computer) or More on your mobile device, and change the quality to 720p. You can see video quality details within the YouTube video player. On YouTube, UHD means a video has 2160–3840 lines of vertical resolution (compared to 720 or 1080, which are typical for HD). On UHD, the picture will be sharper than on HD. What is UHD?ĤK UHD (or Ultra High Definition) refers to a higher quality of video than HD. Compare this to 360 or 480, which are typical for SD.
